Caring for your candle

How to care for your candle

Beeswax candles are a wonderful natural alternative to traditional paraffin candles. They are long-lasting, clean-burning, and emit a subtle, sweet honey-like fragrance. Here are some tips for caring for your beeswax candle:

  1. Always trim the wick: Before lighting your candle, trim the wick to about ¼ inch to prevent sooting and ensure an even burn. If the wick is too long, the candle may burn too hot, resulting in uneven melting and dripping.
  2. Burn the candle for a few hours at a time: It's best to burn your beeswax candle for at least two to three hours at a time. This allows the wax to melt evenly and prevents tunneling, where the wax melts only in the center, leaving a rim of unmelted wax around the edges.
  3. Keep the candle away from drafts: Drafts can cause the candle to burn unevenly and may also cause the flame to flicker, which can be dangerous. So, keep your beeswax candle away from open windows, fans, and doors.
  4. Store the candle properly: If you're not planning to use your beeswax candle for a while, store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. This will prevent the wax from melting or becoming discolored.
  5. Clean the wax: If you notice any dust or debris on the surface of your beeswax candle, you can gently clean it with a soft cloth or brush. Avoid using water or any cleaning agents as this can damage the candle.

By following these simple tips, you can help ensure that your beeswax candle burns cleanly and evenly, providing you with hours of natural, soothing light.
